Flavor: Solstice is marketed as a "warm and cool winter," and as I chew I struggle with that statement, perhaps so much so that it detracts from my enjoyment of the flavor. Along with Zing, Solstice is one of two new flavors introduced to the Wrigley's 5 lineup this spring. Zing was described as a "sour to sweet bubble," and I went in knowing that, and it was a perfect description. The marketing folks at Wrigley's got Zing spot on, but I think they tried a little too hard with Solstice here. I'm just not getting a "warm and cool winter at all." I just get "mint." That being said, it's a great mint. It's different than your usual mints, I would say somewhere in between a peppermint and a wintermint, with a little more sweetness. It's exhilarating and strong (but not too strong), and as with other 5 gums, the flavor lasts.
Texture: Starts off soft and stays soft without falling apart into nothing. This is what texture is all about. I would trust Solstice to stick with me through a long business meeting if I happened to forget to bring the wrapper or a tissue with me for disposal.
Overall: As a whole, Wrigley's 5 line is impressive, and Solstice does not disappoint. I have to point out the packaging on this one, too - it's one of my favorite gum packagings. While I do have my issues with the popular new "pocket pack" style of gum and still lament the loss of my dear Plen-T-Paks, the ribbed cardstock, combined with the smooth, shiny logo and wispy artwork make for a perfect presentation.

How did you not get the chocolate flavor from the Solstice gum? The first time I chewed it I recognized the flavor as being chocolate mint. Work on your palette gum reviewer!
Actually... i got cinnamon and mint. I don't know where you got chocolate... but I didn't get it either, and I have a pretty strong palette
I definitely got a chocolate taste the first time I chewed Solstice too.
ME TOO! The first time I chewed it I tasted chocolate as well....
yeah, i definitely tasted chocolate. I wouldn't buy this flavor again :/
definitely chocolate mint
definitely chocolate mint
Whoever says chocolate mint was probbaly eating a chocolate bar before eating the gum.there are absolutely 0 traces of chocolate in this gum and the warming is the cinemen.
I got chocolate mint the only time I tried it. It reminded me of Hot chocolate and mints mixed.
definitely chocolate mint .. yummy!
I thought I was the only one...but I definitely got a Chocolate Mint Flavor from this gume and I love IT!
Just for the record, my friend, and I agree, described it as Candied root beer...
Chocolate for sure. I tasted the first and every time after.
Also it says warm and cool winter hello... hot chocolate in the winter time
Hmm?
does it taste like extra dessert delights mint chocolate chip ice cream or better?
I just got a pack today and it smells like chocolate and mint. I haven't chewed it yet, but am hoping it is good!
OMG!!! SOOO GOOD!
Not picking up chocolate, but i did pick up cinnamon. This is my first taste of the 5 gum and it's a winner!
When I first took a sniff of the package, I definitely smelled scents of chocolate. I can say the same when I started chewing it. Definitely tastes like chocolate mint, but then the flavor goes away and the winter mint kicks in.
It tastes a little like root beer. idk y......
I definitely smelled and tasted chocolate, too. Not my favorite...won't be buying this one again.
It tastes and smells like stale cigarette smoke to me... and no I'm not a smoker. With that said, it's the best gum I've ever tasted.
I love Wrigley's 5 Rain, but Solstice I do not. It's a too strong wintergreen and a lot like mentholatum Deep Heat.
I dont get chocolate OR cinnamon, i got a vanilla mint sort of flavor. Like warm vanilla if that makes sense.
Definite chocolate flavor at first then turns to full blown mint. I dont smoke so my palete is very strong.
I got cinnamon as well and did not taste any chocolate. Not sure where everyone is getting chocolate from.
No chocolate flavor on my tastebuds. I actually tasted something more similar to a Root Beer/Mint combination, but delicious none the less.
Seriously? Chocolate mint? This reminds me of the old Teaberry gum I used to chew when I was a kid ... or a mixture of wintergreen and clove. I don't consider myself to have the finest of palates, but chocolate? Not even a whisper.
Stock up on this stuff. For whatever reason five decided to discontinue this product. Much to my dismay as it is easily the best gum I have ever chewed. Great flavor but one piece all day, easily.
If BenGay made a chewing gum, it would taste like Solstice
For those saying that it does not taste like chocolate, please do not presume that it does not for the rest of us... If you feel that it tastes like something else, by all means share. We're probably all right, because taste is a perception and a decided upon by the brain.
I can see how others might taste vanilla, as it has some creaminess. The root beer flavor I guess would depend on how your perceive each of the creamy (chocolate/vanilla) and minty notes, but I'm not quite sure how close to sassafras a comparison of flavors could be made. Maybe if you're missing out more on the mint and enjoying more of the creamy flavor...
As for cinnamon... To me, the sense of warmth that may come from the gum does not equal cinnamon in my mind. However, if that's what you're getting from it, so long as you like it of course, keep buying it. But, if you think people are crazy for tasting chocolate, you're the one outside of the norm what what flavor you're perceiving. That makes you the crazy ones. ;)
Not chocolate! I got a vanilla mint sensation but it doesn't matter now it is discontinued!!!
I don't care what everyone thinks they taste, it is by far my favorite gum flavor and I can't find it anymore.
Very sad anyone know if it's still available?
