Flavor: No. Just, no. Is this supposed to taste like watermelon? Or Mint? Or both? Because it doesn't taste like either. It smells peculiarly like Choward's Violets, and I bet that's what I'm tasting, too. The taste is completely nondescript, vaguely sweet and somewhat bitter. It leaves a gross taste in the back of my mouth that I associate with "aftertaste," but it happens DURING the chew, not after. I don't want aftertaste in mid-chew. Big fail. In fact - once I remove the gum from my mouth, the actual aftertaste is, in fact, more pleasant than the duringtaste itself.
Texture: Like most Orbit, the texture is fine. Starts off soft, and firms up to be the perfect chewable consistency. If this review was based on texture alone, it'd get far more gumballs.
Overall: I cannot recommend Orbit Maui Melon Mint to any sane person. There are far better melony gums on the market, if that's what you're craving for. I'd even suggest resorting to a sugared watermelon-flavored gum - a Hubba Bubba or a BubbleYum - if you absolutely have to. But stay away from this one. Stay far away.
Rating: oo (two gumballs)

I enjoy the melon mint, along with many other Orbit flavors. Perhaps it is because Orbit is my brand of choice, but I totally disagree with your "after taste" comment. I think that it has a very sweet taste and balances mint and melon very well. Perhaps you think this makes me not very sane, well, I have been called worse by a great deal other gum bloggers. I do agree very much with your other Orbit reviews however.
I agree with you, Shannon. I think I chewed for about 10 seconds before spitting Maui Melon Mint out. It was disgusting! Blergh.
It's not supposed to taste like watermelon, but honeydew melon, which is a popular sweet flavor in Asian confections.
Interesting, Anon! I assumed it was supposed to taste like watermelon because of the pink and green colored packaging. I'll have to revisit this flavor, I think.
I am currently chewing it and hating every second. Gross. But, I will agree with Anon... it tastes exactly like the brightly color-wrapped (but actually clear colored) hard candy that you get at sushi restaurants. I don't care for those, either.
My sister got this gum because she thought that it would be reallyy good, but it ended up falling apart in her mouth. She didn't like the taste much either.
This is my favourite gum EVER,it's sweet and sugarfree so it's kinda good for the teeth, inlike Hubba Bubba, Shannon.
If you wish to wrack your teeth and yourself, so go ahead and eat the cheap sugarfull Hubba Bubba.
You people need to check your taste buds.
And by the way, i'm a perfectly sane person, thank you.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Maui Melon Mint flavor. Honestly I cannot get enough of it. The sweet melony flavor ties in so nicely with the fresh clean mint flavor. Admittedly I chew WAY too much of this gum. But I just cannot help myself. I guess I am truly an addict.
I was chewing this gum yesterday and afterwards it felt like my tongue got sores and I was in pain for the entire day.
I'm in the "love" camp, but no one else in my family is. To me it is clearly green tea and honeydew--my theory is that the green tea is the "Maui" part. I think that may be the bitter that some folks taste. Green tea ice cream, also, seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing; if you love it, Maui Melon Mint might be for you.
Had to chew some Trident: Tropical Twist to get the taste of Maui Melon out of my mouth. Too much mint, not enough fruit! Yucky, artificial tasting flavors, all around!
This is my favorite flavor of gum. I find it refreshing and I am horribly saddened that it was discontinued. I LOVE this stuff!!! Sorry your palate does not care for it.
My favorite gum, It's called "Mauri"Melon Mint, not Melon Mint, so by you assuming it's supposed to taste like melon or water melon your going in with a biased expectation from the start. I got honeydew mint, it's exotic tasting, hints the Mauri part.
P.S. I find it funny I thought about looking this up on December 29 2018, the same day and month the main site was posted.☕⛽^♦^™
