Stride Uber Bubble

Flavor: Stride Uber Bubble is a nice bubblegum, but that's about as far as it goes. As I've mentioned in past reviews, Katie and I are on an ongoing quest for a gum as good as our long-gone all-time favorite, Extra Original Bubble. Uber Bubble teases you with tanginess, makes you think that it's going to give you a hint of semi-sour, but it just levels out to be your plain old bubblegum. Like I said - it's nice, but I don't see what's so special about this bubble that they felt fit to call it "Uber."

Texture: It's definitely chewable, albeit a little bit too firm for my taste. From a bubblegum, I expect more blow-friendly pliablility to maximize bubbles.

Overall: There's something wrong with this gum. I have meant to review it sooner, but every pack I bought has gone bad somehow. Once the protective plastic is removed from the packaging, you have a period of about two weeks to chew it. (Which, probably, is not a problem for most chewers, but I as a Gum Girl always have no fewer than 5 packs of gum with me at all time.) After a couple weeks, the gum turns like... wet? It gets all sticky and disgusting in the packaging and is completely inedible. It happened to three packs of Uber Bubble I have bought, and if this didn't happen it would have rated at least a 3, but most likely a 4. This weird problem aside, it's one of the better tasting bubblegums on the market right now.
Rating: oo (two gumballs)

I absolutely hate that Stride gets so wet and sticky! Why?! It sucks to find stray pieces of gum in the bottom of my bag that I can't even open and that look like chia pets because of all the lint the stickiness has attracted. Gross :(

I know, right? I have no idea why it gets like that, but it's annoying and a waste of money!

now that you say that....orbit bubble mint gets like that, what the heck? I thought it was a pack that got dropped in some water or something but the package was sealed and dry...there must be something about the new bubblegum flavors. Maybe it's what they're using to flavor it just doesn't have a shelf life and they haven't realized it or done anything about it...can you say product recall. 2 weeks is not a good shelf life for gum.

So weird. I've never had that problem with Orbit Bubblemint, but Stride always does it and it's gross. However, I've seen it happen more when I'm in humid climates than when I'm in the desert. I don't know whether that has anything to do with it, but I never buy certain gums when I'm in the east.

I think they may have reformulated. The only place I now see it is in a dollar tree store. Outer warpping, inside are 2 5-piece packs. Pieces seem a little smaller than previously, but the flavor is a more intense initial rush and the gum stays soft. Anybody know if this is uberbubble 2.0?

Correction: 3 5-piece packs.

I forgot to leave a rating: 4.25 bubbles. It can go up to 4.75 when I haven't had any for a few days and miss it madly. Definitely not my #1 go-to gum (extra polar ice) but definitely uber-er than other sugarless bubblegums. how about a re-review, gum-girls?

Stride Uber Bubble is my all time favorite bubble gum. I am so sad that I can't find it anymore.
