Starbucks Sugar-Free Chewing Gum - Peppermint

Flavor: You'd think that Starbucks, a company known for selling a product that's notorious for causing nasty breath, would make a gum with an Altoids-like "pop" to it. Not the case with this gum. It's a very mellow mint, and the flavor fades really fast. The package proclaims a "cool burst of minty freshness," but there is no burst at all. It doesn't taste bad, just... blah.

Texture: This gum is really weird. First off, it looks like mints. It's like someone accidentally spilled some gum base pellets into the breath mint hopper, and some warehouse dude was like "Let's see what happens..." and this gum was born. It reminds me a lot of Razzles, except for grownups. It starts off really chalky and eventually does congeal, but the wad that's left is really waxy. There will be no cracking or popping with this gum - it's seriously like wax lips.

Presentation: Nice job by Starbucks here. This gum is presented neatly in a little slide-top metal tin, and all the little gum-mints are lined up inside. It's almost like they could have added a special graphic or something and put a marketing spin on it, "Collect all four!" or something.

Overall: The only time I can see anyone buying this gum is on a severe impulse or desperation, much like my co-worker did. She ate some Mexican food for lunch and stopped for a cup of coffee on her way back to work, and realized that her carnitas were funking up her breath, so she picked up the pack in Starbucks. I certainly don't see this as anyone's favorite gum, or even anyone making a special trip to Starbucks to pick it up. As pretty as it looks, it's not a great gum.

Rating: oo (two gumballs)

although this gum does lack flavor after a bit of chewing, its ingredients are recommended by dentists. It contains a ingredient called xylitol and it is clinically proven to reduce dental cavities and remineralize teeth.

The original S'bux gum in a tin was the best ever. I turned a lot of friends on to it. I bought up a boatload when I heard they were discontinuing their original gum. I've hunted for it since. The closest I've found is Seattle's Best Coffee gum in their red tin.

I thought every single thing you said when I bought this. I'm chewing it now, but I felt passionately enough about it's suckiness to find a forum to air my complaints!!!!

I chew about 10 pieces of gum per day... due to cost I've sometimes switched to Target gum (Dentyne, Trident, Orbit, Extra...). I've even chewed Japanese gum (Lotte, Watering Kissmint's, Fit's) But I always keep coming back to the Spearmint Gum from Starbucks. I don't work at Starbucks, but to me - it's the best tasting gum so far... and I really wish it wasn't. Because it really is $1.95 per tin.

I am sorry but I love this gum

I disagree with the original review. I search high and low for Starbucks gum because it tastes great and lasts nearly all day.

I wouldn't say the flavor lasts for long periods of time, but I do love this gum, and search high and low for it.

I Love this gum. I have searched every starbucks for it.
Not only is the texture great the flavor is as well. The girl above who commented about having Mexican food and then coffee and then peppermint gum - should have know that was not gonna be a good combo in her stomach. 

This is my favorite gum. It really gets rid of coffee breath, lasts a long time, is sugar-free and is actually good for your teeth. I LIKE the hard texture a lot - in fact I prefer it. I'm very upset that Starbucks discontinued it. Does anyone know where it can be purchased now? Or a good substitute? Thanks

I think the gum is made by Gumlink Confectionery Company of Denmark.
They call it "Compressed gum".
Just not sure how to order it :-)

They must have changed the gum since this review. What I found were like chiclets in a cardboard sleeve and the mint was like a nuclear peppermint bomb then the fruit stripe gum curse almost instantly. Within 30 seconds, there was no flavor left in the gum.

sorry but this is possibly the worst gum I have ever had in my entire life. It leaves a slippery feeling in my mouth and is a disgrace to the gum society. Please do everyone a favour and remove this nuisance off of the shelves this is probably the cause for many of the world's problems. Its so hard to chew literally taking my teeths off not to mention no popping or snapping is allowed in this gum. disgusting product.

I saw it advertised on instacart. I have not attempted to purchase it because I have not opted to use instacart. I might have spelled it incorrectly. I hope you know what app I am talking about.
